This is a description of the DS Arms SA58 FAL. Back on October 21 I started a thread in the forum asking what was the best 308 semi-auto for the money. www.survivalistboards.com There were lots of suggestions thrown around; like the PTR-91, CETME, Springfield M1A, FAL,,,,,. In the end I decided to spend the money for a quality product, and purchased a DS Arms SA58 FAL. Factory, right of the box -- I would compare the recoil to a 30-30. But this is a full sized 308 Winchester. Is like having the best of 2 worlds: 1 -- full powered rifle cartridge. 2 -- light recoil Unlike the Remington model 750 that has a small box magazine, the DS Arms FAL has a 20 round magazine. When my FAL arrived at the firearms dealer I made the purchase through, I just happened to be on a 3 day camping trip on the Angelina River. Tuesday I called my wife to check in, and she tells me my rifle has arrived, but the dealer is closed for the rest of the day and will be out of town tomorrow. At this point and time I feel like throwing the cell phone in the river. Wednesday I can not stop thinking about my rifle, and its just outside my reach. Just on be more day and its mine. Thursday, I get home, take a shower, drive to the gun store, and he is closed for lunch. Ok, at this point I feel like screaming at the door. www.youtube.com John and I, mainly John go over this beautiful battle rifle. The FN FAL used by more countries than any other battle rifle in history, is a beautiful piece of craftmanship. I study firearms and think I have a pretty good base of knowledge especially, when it come to military weapons. John makes me feel like a second grader compared to his vast knowledge of military firearms. He retains everything He reads, I wish I could do that, lol. We go over the STG 58 like a couple of hungry lions on a fresh kill. lol. I know, that was gay. lol. Anyways, every little detail of this battle rifle is fine crafted and just a pleasure to hold. I hope to get to the range sometime in the next week and put the STG through it paces. The engineering that went into this weapon is awesome. Every details is not only user friendly but but perfectly fit. Every lighting cut, every line and crevice lines up perfectly with the other. I love the look of a CETME or G3 but this FN FAL puts the proven roller delayed system to shame. At least, it really impressed me and as many times as I have seen an FN FAL, it never really hit me until I started to really look at this particular example. I now want one real bad, thanks John. lol. I know my camera will do this rifle no justice but I hope that changes very soon. This is a comprehensive review of an FN FAL Self-Loading Rifle chambered for .308 / 7.62mm. FN FAL Resource: www.squidoo.com Weapon Specs: DSA Fully forged upper receiver, picatinny rail Chinese imported scope x6 w/illuminated reticule This weapon is made in Austria, exported to the USA and is the carbine variant of the FN FAL. Being made in Austria meant that a very ergonomic set of bipod legs were incorporated into the forestock. These give the effect of being integrated, however they are removable.
